Help us Mobilize
It’s time to move!
On September 24, we need to bring a diverse group of advocates to the Capitol Building in Sacramento to voice their support for Proposition 5.
Can you give $50 to help bring a Prop. 5 supporter to Sacramento? Every $1 you give will help us provide gas money, a bus ticket or plane fare.
On September 24, the legislature will hold an informational hearing on Prop. 5 — as it is legally required to do for all ballot measures. The legislature won’t be voting on Prop. 5, but they do need to hear — from advocates and the people in treatment themselves — about why so many Californians support it. You can bet they and members of the media who attend will be hearing plenty from our opponents in law enforcement.
Help us bring people like Cynthia McDonald, who got treatment instead of incarceration and is now in long-term recovery (which in Cynthia’s case means she has abstained from alcohol and drugs for five years now), to share their stories!
We want our legislators to hear about what Prop. 5 will do: provide services to young people with drug problems, expand access to drug treatment both in the community and behind bars, and save Californians $2.5 billion over the next several years.
But legislators must also hear that Prop. 5 means much-needed support for the one in four California families struggling with a loved one’s drug or alcohol dependency.
Please help us take this important Prop. 5 message to Sacramento! (Donate)
