101 Days to Go

Support for the Nonviolent Offender Rehabilitation Act - Proposition 5 on the November ballot - is building momentum! I am excited to tell you that, with just 101 days to go until election day, the campaign is forming a strong coalition. Every day with your support, we move closer to ending prison overcrowding in California and expanding community-based treatment for people whose only crime is addiction or mental illness.

Just this week, Prop. 5 was unanimously endorsed by the National Latino Congreso, the largest annual gathering of Latino political organizations in the U.S.! This important endorsement adds to support we’ve received from other significant organizations and individuals, including the League of United Latin American Citizens.

Support is building across the political and cultural spectrum because Prop. 5 will protect public safety and save taxpayers billions of dollars by safely shrinking the size of the nonviolent prison population by tens of thousands within just a few years.
